While the idea behind the new no-sub rule is a good one, no one wants to have the other team suddenly stacked against them when thats not what they agreed to before the match starts, issues begin to come up when really long matches are played.

Before you go into matches you have to make sure that you have the time for both sessions. With matches capped at 1.5 hours that means if you play a big match on say lockdown or ghostship you have to be able to set aside 3 whole hours before the match starts.

A lot of the players in this game live at home and have things like eating dinner with the family or being kicked off the computer by a sibling or parents bugging them to go do something that comes up. This makes 3 hours a very unreasonable amount of time to expect a person to not have any obligations for. I am in college with the option of eating whenever i want with no bedtime and the freedom to do what i want and i cant even guarantee i can be playing rep com for 3 hours straight.

Therefore i would like to propose that if the first of the two matches takes over 45 min to complete that people should be allowed to sub in, because issues do come up. This 45 min cap on the first game guarantees that the total combined time probably won't go over 1.5 hours, which is a much more reasonable amount of time to set aside, and in fact you have to be able to set aside 1.5 hours before any match anyway, as that is the time limit on any given game.

Thoughts?

This is a great Idea Bill, I would urge ER mods to make this a rule.

1. I think there should be a 45 Min cap in the first place
2. If game goes over 30 min then subbing should be allowed
3. There should be a amount of time in which the player is waited on. Like today, I was playing a match and I had to wait 20 min for the other player to come back which was stupid. There should be a rule where you only have 10 minutes in between matches, if all players do not show up then match begins how teams are.

Except you cannot force a another team to play the second match if the second match hasn't already begun ie: counted down.

A bad third idea there flash if you ask me. Waiting is just the price you have to pay sometimes if you want to play against a paticular clan. As Bill said, very few to no people can set aside 3 straight hours to play and sometimes people need to get something done after the first 1.5 hours so they can play in the second 1.5 hours.

Just my two cents.

Well, a valid ER match is about 2 games. Currently there is no subbing allowed, unless a moderator allows it.

And if you ask me, matches which take more than 45 minutes aren't normal situations and people should have the option to sub in another player after someone had to leave.

We'll discuss this in moderator's section. Thank you Bill to make suggestions. We always try to make fair rules.

No DarkWolf the rules have been chaged. A "game" is both sides. Therefore, you need to play both trando and rep. If the team does not come back for the second match then it is a forfit.

I asked Bill to post this here because I wanted to get a feel for how others felt about it. I don't really have an oppinion on it because it hasn't been a problem yet. But I am sure that if I had a 90 min match which I thought would take 20 mins then yeah I would like the opption.

I personally have been going off; if the other team alouws you to sub then go for it. I think it promoted honor and friendship in the game... somethings we seem to be lacking. However, if the other team does not give you the O.K. then you play a man down. That's been my out look on it.

Please continue to post your comments here. It helps.

Bill, I think your post is excellent... However there were many many reasons why we had to change this rule. The reason the rule was made was b/c many people complained over and over about agreeing to match only to have the roster changed after they one the first one.

Vash the rules say nothing about a moderator allowing it. There is no subbing, period. If you don't have the time to play don't agree to the matches in the first place. That is a much simplier issue than then were we were before with this and the constant complaints about people either switching in better players or not playing at all after losing round 1. The other MAJOR issue was people playing as REP (DC17) and then not playing as trando, or subbing in another player who is better with the trando gun. This rule change was the only way to combat all of these problems. Maybe if people were alittle more honorable, worked together and acted civil we wouldn't need to have some infantile rules in place..

The rules doesn't. But I had sitations, where a moderator allowed it so I thought a moderator can also decide on special situations.
(In my opinion special situations are like matches which need more than 45 mins)

No one would EVER have to set aside 3 hours to play matches. I believe there was a 1 hour match limit last time i checked. 2 Hours is still a long time. But then you have to wait for ppl etc... Like I said there should be a waiting limit after the first match to ensure that people aren't waiting ridiculous amounts of times just to get their fair share in the matches...

I'm pretty sure he knows that Wes. The 3 hours are put aside for both sides (Trando and Rep).

Flash is correct, have to agree on this. Only if the other team allows a sub is what im told. So we usually allow substitutions for another team if they've been polite and played a fun match. If there acting extremely rude to players on our side, screw them. They can't get a sub.

That's my 2 cents.

Talon, that is true, I will usually allow a sub, if you have been pretty nice, or w/e not complaining and that stuff.(I do a lot I know :D)

Another thing is though, what if you loose? and they looes a player? You are gonna want to even the match and best way to do that is play them a man down. Its hard to resist that, and if you do I applaud you for your sportsmanship that i just dont have.

I hold no grudges, it was just a minor annoyance. It's done, as far as I'm concerned.
