as I and my clan members are new to this, I am still not fully understanding how this will work. i could not find "instructions" per se. So could a moderator please indulge me? Provide the link if I truly did miss it, and I apologize. Or feel free to PM me instead. I'd like to be able to inform my members thoroughly so we don't mess anything up.

Thanks!!

there is a link to the rules page for Bw on the events main page just like for every event. The event is relatively simple when it comes to getting matches. Simply xfire any of the players/clans participating and ask them for a match. If they can play then one of you sets up a server according to the specifications listed on the rules page and you play the match.

Rules page link: http://www.eclipticalrealms.com/wargames/war-rules.asp?warid=190

Hey Krayt, it says that we are responsible for reporting our own points and doing the math on the CP caps and stuff. What are the points like for these? I cant seem to find the points system anywyhere.

1 Point for every kill, -1 for ever death, and i beleive 5 for ever CP cap (It used to be 10 I think) And then the "Team Bonus" as it is called in the "Submit Results" is remaining ticket count.

there is no point system. when reporting a match it will ask for how many kills, deaths, and CPs each player got. It will also ask the team bonus. there is no math involved. just copy down the numbers from your screen shot and submit.

I think I'm reading the link containing the list of matches correctly and that 4 matches posted were removed. Those matches were 1v1 b/t members of same clan.

Could someone please explain why the matches were removed? I did not receive a PM about this, which seems that one should have been.

Thanks in advance and look forward to a prompt response as this speaks to how ER works.....

FooKage hit it on the nose there. Clans are not allowed to play eachother in events intended to be between different clans. That pretty much defeats the purpose of the event. If you want to set up your own internal event to be hosted here at ER then please contact me and we can set it up.

Good to know this information. However, no where does it say explicitly that interclan battles are not allowed. There are mixing of clans for a battle allowed.

Some have you have fortunately been participating here for some time. In an effort to bring more ppl, as well as keep this particular tourney active, it would be more prudent to update the rules to reflect this topic.

Another basic rule would be to state that signups are locked out a specific time/day for an event. (Brought that to your attention Krayt, and now a player could not sign up today. I asked you specifically about a lockout and your response was - as long as they are on the roster. However, I further asked about ppl wanting to join in 3 days later. You gave me the same response.)

Also, update the rules to reflect ticket count to be 200, or whatever number.

Point is, myself and others have asked some questions. There are new ppl here to participate, and the rules require updating. To give this tourney a more Professional perception, please consider what I am suggesting. I gurantee you, that ppl become disinterested when things are not explained well or enough.

Post here or PM me. I will even offer to assist with some of my suggestions.

Ok, in the battle description it says "BattleWeek (BW) is an Ecliptical Realms hosted event which will be a Week Long Battle between the Signed up Clubs listed below" therefore explaining that the event is between clans rather then against yourself. I can see how this confused you though, sorry for the inconvenience. However, as NJO is the only clan that has made this mistake it can't be viewed as too much of a problem, but we will add that into the rules if there is a future event.

The battle main page does say that signups will be locked. Hence the signup start and signup end times listed conveniently next to the battle start and battle end time. The signup end date is set to the same day as the battle start. As I told you several times, if a player is not on the roster they cannot play.

And the rules page does say that the tickets needs to be set to 200.

Krayt,

All I am suggesting is that the rules be updated to even reflect the most obvious topics.

The ones I mentioned here to which you so eloquently stated that the info was front and center (e.g., no interclan match, ticket count is 200, and lockout on signup).

The last topic regarding lockout is an implied deadline. The main page that you refer to merely states the event start and end, like you say. It has nothing to do with signups. Case in point is the xfire w/ you on this where you did not explain the lockout, nor the flexibility that you have regarding them:

Conversation started between {NJO} MjrNut and -(DW)-Krayt88_ER: Fri, May 11 16:31:49 2007
[16:31] {NJO} MjrNut: question about signups. what is the actual deadline for BW18? bc i have someone that signed up today.
[16:34] -(DW)-Krayt88_ER: signups close the day that the event starts
[16:34] {NJO} MjrNut: so midnight tonight?
[16:35] -(DW)-Krayt88_ER: yeah
[16:35] {NJO} MjrNut: ooops midnight last nigt
[16:35] {NJO} MjrNut: lol
[16:35] -(DW)-Krayt88_ER: yeah sry
[16:35] {NJO} MjrNut: k, so he ineligible thne
[16:35] -(DW)-Krayt88_ER: i could get him on the roster later maybe
[16:35] {NJO} MjrNut: and how is this verified btw?
[16:37] {NJO} MjrNut: he is on my roster for battlefront already. just tell me if it is ok for him to play or not. but let's say someone comes in midweek, how is that verified?
[16:38] {NJO} MjrNut: player name is wussygirl
[16:38] -(DW)-Krayt88_ER: if he is on the ER roster then he can play
[16:39] {NJO} MjrNut: ok, there is some lockout i thought i read about?
[16:51] {NJO} MjrNut: just so you know, im fielding questions from other ppl on this. so i can direct them to you or let me know on some of this.....?
[16:52] -(DW)-Krayt88_ER: well if he is on the roster then there doesnt appear to be a problem
[16:54] {NJO} MjrNut: thanks, im glad he is good to know. let me restate my addtional question. I'm not going to let this happen, but in case I have a member that wants to join on Monday. Will that be acceptable? If not, how is this situation prevented?
[16:56] -(DW)-Krayt88_ER: it should be acceptable as long as he appears on the roster
[17:02] {NJO} MjrNut: k thanks, appreciate it
Conversation ended: Fri, May 11 17:02:35 2007

As a result of the above xfire chat, I posted for my clan that members could still join. We both know they cannot participate. There was misinformation here and we can both do w/o it.

Setup of games in the rules is written based on direct connect method (i.e., non-PC dedicated server). Would be very useful to have a writeup for PC dedicated server to cover all bases. Doing screenshots to basically hold ppls hands would be ideal.

I understand that BW has a long and distinguished history as Punisher informed me. As well as how "nasty" it got with padding scores and the like. (not my intention w/ interclan match) I'd like to continue this event, help it as much as possible as evidenced by getting NJO and TL20.

Again, I'm suggesting update to the rules. Make this less intimidating and give ppl more info on how easy and fun this really is.

No skin off my back if you decline my suggestion.

Like I said in that conversation, if you had your members send in a join request and then contacted me about it (which after our original conversation didnt happen) I could have accepted them to your roster like i said. you could then verify that they were in fact on the roster by checking back on your roster. However, you did not come back to me letting me know that you had people ready for signups until halfway through the event so that window in which i could add people to your roster was effectively closed. This isn't a hard and fast rule that people are allowed to signup after the event which is why it isnt on the battle rules page, but since this was your first event at ER, the idea that you could get people on your roster in the first 3 days of the event was entertained.

And the rules are set up to be for all means of hosting a server. They dont state what you need to set the tickets to in the setup, just what they need to be in game. Everything else is strait forward. If you really need somebody to hold your hand while setting up a server please xfire myself or another players who knows how to for assistance.
