Looking at the recent discussion about game rules I thought it would be nice to show the overall opinion of the Empire at War players through some polls. Beginning with the Heroes issue. It seems some of us also want Win-loss instead of that needlessly complicated scoring system but that's another subject. I just thought the GD should see the players' opinion on that more thoroughly, perhaps he'll see what we think is best for the event and change his mind?

Just my opinion, but Heroes are what really turn the tide in Empire at War/Forces of Corruption. If you get in a situation where you have no knowledge of your heroes abilities, but your opponent knows their heroes to the code, then you have a disadvantage.

I don't think heroes should be allowed in the events, because no heroes keeps things fair.

The same goes for a game mode without heroes. A person who knows how the game works without heroes over a guy who doesnt, will own.

Rebel inf > Emp inf
3 T4Bs > 1 AT-AT
5 T2bs with Shields > 4 AT-STs without

The game is unbalanced without heroes. Just like people complain about playing FoC because they dont wanna attack ZC fighters with buzzers or send infantry up against canderous tanks. Rebel heroes are stronger in terms of offence, but their at higher tech levels, which gives the emp an edge early game.

I vote yes for heroes.

Isn't that.... The point of the game, to Know what you're doing?

Depends on your outlook of the game itself.

Lets not let this turn into a debate, it was intended to be a simple post your opinion topic and see what the community thinks.

So lets give the community that chance.

*This is purely space*

The game is balanced with heroes, if both people know how to use them.  If one doesn't, who cares, it's all about knowing the game anyway, thats how you win.  I also vote yes for heroes.

Couldnt agree more, and not only that, but even if both teams know how to use their heroes the game is still unfair. Lets face it, the sides in this game arent particularly even unless 2 pro level gamers are facing eachother, and adding in heroes that make things even more uneven doesnt help any.

If at this point there is a player who only knows how to use heroes and nothing else then they seriously need to consider sitting this event out until next month. After one game of space people know that Tartans kill Xwings, so not knowing what the basic units in the game are is really not an issue unless you bought the game 2 days ago.

There is a difference between knowing what you are doing and taking advantage of a unit that is unfair to begin with.

As i have said before, i would be more then happy to set up 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3 tournament with any match settings that are agreed upon, but week events are set up to be as fair as possible and even if putting on heroes makes them slightly more entertaining it isnt worth screwing up the fairness of the event.

Then perhaps you can look into hosting a second week event for space with heroes enabled and a different scoring system? We could have it go by wins and losses only and have our way. You'l still have your event and as such and your way. After all, if BFII can have 2 or more events we can too I'd imagine if the addition of heroes and a new system is going to change the gameplay that drastically as you claim it will.

Catering for clans that wont participate due to no heroes will get more activity in here than catering for only those who want no heroes... which from the looks of things, are only 2 of you sofar. THX, SOTN and the Cosmics all stated their desire for heroes else there wont be much of a signing up from their sides.

And be fair, if you want to stick us with only a 3v3 tourney, then it'l have to be a monthly thing otherwise whats the point?
We can play 3v3's in the lobby with heroes and we dont have to wait for this site to host it.

A tournament is an event that goes only wins and losses. A month long ladder could also be set up in the same fashion.

You can play any type of match in the lobby with any rules you want and dont have to have a site like this to host it, so i dont really see your point on this one. The purpose of sites like this is to make the matches you play in game more fun by adding to competitive feel of the game. The stipulations of the match has little to do with how competitive the event is.

I understand that, but there are clubs here who do not officialy have the interest in EaW to warrent a dedicated section for it in the clan. As such and due to the dwindling interest in EaW as is with reference to the decreasing number of active players in teh lobbies, a singular tournement wont warrent the attention and odds are, the event will fail.

And here we are, debating the issue. The community is expressing their desire to add heroes to the existing events and perhaps, if it warrents it after GW 6, yet another alteration to the scoring system. There is no point in hosting events that people dont show up for on account of the GD not wanting to listen to their demands for adding a "fun" element, in this case personified by heroes. You yourself recognise this factor, yet do little about it.

We are not interested in a month long ladder with our rules, we want a montly space event and if it warrents the attention, a land event with the addition of heroes.

How is adding heroes to the events not adding fun or a competative element to the existing events?

I'd imagine the exclusion of heroes are somewhat of a downer and seeks to only dampen interest in the events.

Asuka seriously when are you going to stop. You seem only interested in one thing and thats causing trouble. You stick your nose in every gaming section demanding things to your own liking and you just wont take no for an answer. Why dont you go make your own site so you can everything set up how you like it.Otherwise shut up and go away and stop this childish behavior. You jump from one section to another doing nothing but making demands and stirring up problems. In some sections like SWBFII,you dont even play the damn game but still had to stick your nose in.So again just be quiet or go away and stop acting like a baby whos mommy wont buy him a toy at the store and wont stop crying until getting his own way.

I really cant believe the power or influence -(DR)- is trying to flex in every single event. You guys make demands as to how events should be set up and you wont take no for an answer.Your proving it right now by not caring what the Game Director says and continuing your demands for things set up to your own liking.Do you really want to push so far it gets set up exactly to your liking and youll end up like other sections with people percieving the event to be dictated by your clan and wont play.As you can see that worked well in other sections and killed one of the most active sections on ER.SO I say either be quiet or continue your campaign and youll successfully kill another gaming section for good. But that wont stop you,you wil just move onto another gaming section and start all over again cause its all you know how to do is cause problems and destroy a good thing.

I think we should all keep personal vandettas out of this and stick to the original purpose of Auronkast's thread, a poll on whether or not heroes should be used. If Krayt chooses to use the results to change the rules of the event, that is entirely up to him.

I couldnt agree more which is why Asuka should stay out of this since its well known of his personal ill will towards Krayt. But I again I say you guys cant take no or anything for an answer unless things turn out exactly how you want them to.Asukas complaints in this section alone have been going on for a year.He doesnt play here so why does he insist on stirring up trouble?

It's not his own liking alot of people want hero's and if heros would be added more clans will come and more people will start to play. Before replieng to something know your facts asuka did play in the swbf2 section in ER. Asuka played in the E@W for a fiarly long time he can speak his mind here, expecially if its going to help ER's E@W section witch shown by the last turnement is dieing quikly

Yeah he played, well over a year ago in both sections so I wouldnt exactly call that being a supportive player. As far as having a poll goes it will only get more people upset and probably lead to less playing.Polls here on ER can be easily manipulated when you have 1 clan with 100 members and then like 10 other clans with 3-5 members. The only fair way to get a majority of the clans opinion would be to contact each of the clubs captians for input.Otherwise a poll will simply benefit a large single group but in reality will alienate the overall majority of players from a wide variety of clubs.

As for the actual option of heroes, the best soultion would be either to switch these events to all FOC only so then people could choose any side they wish to fight with leveling out any adavantages since two sides can both play with the same team in FOC then they could both play with the same hero.Otherwise I say dont add heroes using E@W + FOC in this event or it will lead to people arguing simply when thier trying to set up matches on wether whos willing to play in which of the game choices.

I'd also say bring back the land events but change the event. No more points for buildings, change it to a simple win or lose game with the win being earned by destroying the enemy and not based on structures for points. While Im sure this sped up games,it resulted to people exploiting it and not fun matches. If you lost a structure often people would sit back and wait to see if youd rebuild to get the points again. If you didnt rebuild then you basically lost.At least eliminating points for structures and switching to win/loss type of set up it would make the game enjoyable and last longer. And the same for heroes on land, yes if its FOC only and no if its FOC + E@W.
